Essaouira

Essaouira Morocco

Destinations
The ancient fortified town of Essaouira offers a unique mixture of culture and Atlantic sailing conditions. This pretty whitewashed town has been a thriving port for fifteen centuries and is steeped in history, offering an exciting and enchanting holiday destination.

Essaouira has been a magnet for poets, artists and craftsmen since the eighteenth century, so the tiny streets are crammed with local pottery and handicrafts. In the evening the fisherman come back to port in their brightly painted boats, their nets bursting with sardines, and people jostle on the quays to buy the fresh fish. You won’t find anything fresher for dinner.

Essaouira is now also becoming a more popular water sports destination and is a great spot for both kiting and surfing from both novice riders through to more experienced riders looking to improve there skills or just have fun in a new spot.

The water is shallow with a sandy bottom and lack of current make it the perfect for beginners, it also offers the more experienced riders a great variety of wave riding and flat riding depending on the swell and wind direction.

For the advanced riders there are a selection of spots in the immediate vicinity: Sidi Kaouki , The Cave and Moulay where Explora run trips daily, we also offer trips further afield to Imessouane and Safi.

Life is easy here and Essaouira offers you a great opportunity to both explore and experience both the culture and outdoor activities.
